Discover the remarkable story of St. Francis at the staged reading of an original full-length musical, Francis: The Man from Assisi, with performances on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 100 Miami Avenue, Terrace Park, OH 45174. The project is a collaboration between two professional Cincinnati-based theater organizations: The Friends of the Groom Theater Company and The Story Collective.
Presented as a staged reading, the show features actors performing with scripts in hand, minimal costumes, and no elaborate sets or lighting, while still delivering the full story and music of this inspiring tale.
The musical, written by playwright Tom Long and composer Allen Pote, explores the life of Saint Francis as he journeyed from his early days as the pleasure seeking son of a wealthy merchant to become a figure of compassion, radical poverty, and service. Long and Pote have collaborated on over 17 musicals together, bringing decades of experience in theater and music to this production.
Tickets are $15 and seating is limited. Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.thestorycollective.org/tsc-francis
❄️ Winter Weather Update
Current Status: ALL PERFORMANCES ARE PROCEEDING AS SCHEDULED.
While we are keeping a close watch on the incoming winter storm, we are committed to moving forward with our scheduled performances.
Why we are proceeding
We are honored to host a cast of incredible performers who have traveled from out of town on special arrangement to make these shows possible. Because of their limited travel windows and professional commitments elsewhere, rescheduling these performances is not an option. We want to ensure these artists have the opportunity to share their work with our community.
Our Policy on Cancellations & Refunds
We will continue to monitor road conditions and local advisories.
If the show cancels: In the event that weather conditions become severe enough to dictate a full cancellation,
all ticket holders will be issued a full refund .
* Your Safety First: We recognize that weather conditions can vary significantly depending on where you are traveling from. We fully respect and understand the choice of any individual to stay home if they feel unsafe or uncomfortable traveling.
Note: If you choose not to attend while the performance is still proceeding, please be aware that refunds are only guaranteed in the event of a venue-led cancellation.
