Count to Ten: A DRAMA WARM-UP for KIDS
Practicing Group Concentration

Develop timing and group awareness as students count to ten together, each calling out one number at a time without knowing who will speak next.

(NO VIDEO AVAILABLE)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Have the students all stand in a small circle and close their eyes. Instruct them to take a deep breath.

  • Explain: “We are going to count to ten as a group. Any one of you can say a number, but only one person can speak at a time. Try to leave a little space between each number. If two people speak at the same time – we have to start again from the beginning at the number one.”

  • Start by counting “One!” and let the group continue until two people count at the same time, or until you reach ten.

  • The goal is to be so in tune with each other you can sense when to count without overlapping.
